New Outdoor Activity Centre at Cannington (April 2009)

Bridgwater College has built a brand new outdoor activity centre, located on the College campus at Cannington. The Cannington Activity Centre has been built for groups of people to develop personal and team building skills and to have fun! The centre incorporates a mixture of high ropes, low ropes and climbing walls and sessions can be tailored to the specific needs of each group.

The activity centre will bring an exciting new feature to some of the College's courses, but also a wonderful facility for youth, community and corporate groups. The course has an extensive low ropes section incorporating 15 activities including 'Spider's Web', 'Giant's Finger' and 'Chasm Crossing'. The high ropes section comprises seven sections including 'Climbing and Abseil Wall', 'Trapeze Jump' and 'Jacobs Ladder'. All these challenges are designed to develop personal and team building skills whilst increasing confidence and trust.

Centre Manager said: "We are very pleased to be able to offer this superb course to groups of all abilities, and we are able to tailor the sessions to suit the group or individuals."

Several groups have already taken the plunge and tackled the course, including the Prince's Trust teams, school and college groups as well as local youth and community groups. The feedback from these groups have been very positive and everyone has enjoyed their day. "Everyone has a superb time and thought the instructors were great." A member of Doctors Reunion Group. "The young people had a great time." YMCA worker.

The Activity Centre sessions can be booked for all types of reasons: birthday parties, reunions, staff team work training and socials, corporate events, recruitment, personal challenges etc. The centre will be offering the opportunity to take part in an evening climbing course, subject to demand.
