Students make a splash at Cannington Activity Centre (November 2010)

Bridgwater College students have recently installed a new water rope crossing at Cannington Activity Centre. Two groups, studying Preparation for Life and Work at Crockers Centre in Cannington, worked on the project together as part of the Construction pathway of their course.

After listening to the requirements from the Activity Centre Manager, Leon Troake, the students worked extremely hard by preparing the ground, digging the holes, fitting the structural poles and turfing the area.

Centre Manager, Leon said,

"I am very impressed with the way they have carried out the project from start to finish. The new rope crossing will provide another challenging aspect to the low rope course. They should be justifiably proud of their achievement."

Jerry Pope, Programme Manager, said,

"The students have really benefitted from this project and managed the whole job! They have considered all the elements of the job including communication, sourcing the required materials plus health and safety procedures."

Cannington Activity Centre is a purpose-built activity centre offering high and low ropes challenges for both children and adults, under the supervision of qualified instructors.
